Savannah's Cafe

Savannah's Cafe

Well Savannah’s Cafe was a real mixed bag. I think we would have really had a nice time if we had a different waiter.

The atmosphere at Savannah’s is pleasant with a classy decor. By 7pm on a Sunday though the place was pretty quiet. The guy who sat us turned out to be our waiter.

Our dinner was quite tasty, my husband ordered the short ribs which he absolutely loved, while I got the buttermilk chicken which was pretty good, except for being a little dry.

It was after we ate that the wait began, our waiter disappeared, we didn’t see him again for about 20-25 minutes, he never checked on our dinner or refilled our drinks. Another waiter ended up taking away our dishes and eventually after seeing us frustrated asked if we needed anything. He was kind enough to tell our waiter we wanted our check, I spotted our waiter in the outdoor area chatting away with someone. 5 minutes later he brought us our check, another 5 minutes later he grabbed the check with our payment, then another 5 minutes later we were able to leave.

So what would have taken 25-30 minutes for our dinner ended up taking almost an hour.

Atmosphere – Savannah’s Cafe is nicely decorated with a laid-back atmosphere with jazzy music in the background. A nice date place.
Rating: ★★★★☆

Service – Our waiter started out alright, but after our drinks were delivered he wandered off for a good 20-25 minutes.
Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Food - The food was pretty good, both my husband and I enjoyed our entrées. I would definitely give them another shot, hopefully with a different waiter.
Rating: ★★★★☆

Summary – Savannah’s would be a nice place to go on a date or with a group of friends.
Overall Rating: ★★★½☆

Beak's Old Florida

Beak's Old Florida

Beak’s Old Florida is an interesting place, I noticed a lot of reviews that called it eclectic, there is no doubting that! Beak’s definitely has a lot of character and charm.

The atmosphere in Beak’s is friendly, our waiter was very attentive and nice we were very happy with the service. The interior is a bar with a few scattered tables, there is a large outside eating area for when the weather turns pleasant.

Beak’s has menu that mostly consists of bar staples – burgers, sandwiches, the normal appetizers but there are a few entrees as well.

The decor is, well like a garage sale threw up on everything. Weird things hang from every wall and every shelf but it some how there is a method to the madness. I really liked the old fashion jukebox in the corner, you just don’t see many of those these days!

Juke box at Beak's

Yes that's a light up Santa next to the Juke box.

You are probably wondering how the food is by now, well I ordered a strange burrito chicken, spinach, onion thing, while not bad, it wasn’t really good. However the steak sandwich my husband ordered was really good, so we have a mix here. I’m willing to give Beak’s the benefit of the doubt here and say I just ordered badly, I should have picked something a little less weird.

So if you like bizarre interior decorating, bar food and darn good service I’d give Beak’s a chance, I’m planning on going again soon and sampling more of their menu.

Atmosphere – Beak’s decor can be sensory overload, stuff everywhere, but I like that.
Rating: ★★★☆☆

Service – Our waiter was friendly, attentive and good-natured.
Rating: ★★★★☆

Food - The food was hit & miss, while my entree was kinda weird, I really liked my husband’s sandwich.
Rating: ★★★☆☆

Summary – A cool bar with crazy decor, nice place to bring friends.
Overall Rating: ★★★½☆

Zoey

Beautiful Zoey

We added a new member to our family recently. Zoey (Originally Chelsea but we liked Zoey better) is a beautiful little girl around 9 months old. We brought her home from Pet Pal Animal Shelter (A nice no-kill shelter). She is incredibly sweet and loving but also very playful.

Zoey is a little tortoiseshell cat, with beautiful golden eyes. She is mostly black, but she has the cutest little white tipped toes on her front legs, and white socks on her back legs.

Zoey is starting to learn her way around our house pretty well, the stairs were a bit daunting at first but now she is a pro.

Kitties

Zoey & Clawdius check each other out.

Our other kitty Clawdius is still getting used to her and she follows him where-ever he goes. We adopted Clawdius after his former owners who lived down the street had a house fire and abandoned him. I have tons of pictures of Clawdius also on this site, he is quite the handsome boy!

We are really excited to have Zoey, I think after the kids get to know each other they are going to be best friends!

One thing we are having to get used to is how vocal she is. She likes to wander around the house meowing loudly. Clawdius is very quiet and usually only meows when he is hungry.
